The Art of Song vol. 2 – Between Sacred and Profane
The Art of Song vol. 2 - Between Sacred and Profane was born from the musical influences that have moulded the art of Rita Maria & Filipe Raposo and that share their habitat. It is the territory of classical music, jazz and traditional songs, which are the cornerstone of this creation.
Rites and myths have played a role in the search for and connection to the deep, in returning to origins and explaining mysteries. They pacify and comfort and give meaning to our existence.
In cultures that separate the world of the divine from everyday life, the relationship with the Sacred and the Profane can be interpreted as religion and non-religion. However, in ancient societies, each of man's interventions in the countryside, such as ploughing the land or felling a tree in the forest, has the rhythms of a latent holiness, and there is no obvious difference between secular and sacred activities. There is a unifying pulse, where everything is sacred and profane.
The Art of Song vol. 2 - Between Sacred and Profane uses songs collected from different eras and contexts to demonstrate the role of song and its seismic force as a primary factor in socialisation, the transmission of knowledge and the accompaniment of rituals in work and religion, in the world of men and gods.
His repertoire is divided into themes that guide us through the mists of time.
