In July, Orquestra XXI visits Cistermúsica - Alcobaça Music Festival, with a programme dedicated to Ludwig van Beethoven's 6th Symphony. Programmatic by nature, the famous 'Pastoral' elevated illustrative music to new artistic standards, reconciling its formal qualities with the ability to arouse pictorial associations and typically Romantic emotions in the audience. Also in this programme, with musical direction by Dinis Sousa, the ensemble will perform Joly Braga Santos' Nocturno para cordas and will accompany Alena Baeva - winner of international competitions such as the Henryk Wieniawski Prize - in Dmitri Shostakovich's Concerto for violin and orchestra n.º 2.
