Maat Saxophone Quartet
Impressions and Illusions 2
TICKETS SOON
In this programme, the Maat Saxophone Quartet presents Maurice Ravel's famous string quartet in a unique arrangement by saxophonist Daniel Ferreira. Each of the quartet's saxophones takes on the role of the string quartet's instruments, resulting in a transcription of Ravel's emblematic work that, despite the different timbres and sonorities, maintains the same musical message. The programme is completed with transcriptions of works by Dmitri Shostakovich, Two pieces for string quartet (Elegy and Polka), an original work by composer Luís Tinoco, written especially for the Maat Saxophone Quartet and, finally, George Gershwin's famous Rhapsody in Blue, with jazzy sonorities very typical of the instrument.
