Jovem Orquestra Portuguesa
Cello Concerto n.º 1
TICKETS SOON
After the success of the 2024 summer tour (with the opening of the 25th edition of the Young Euro Classic Festival at the Konzerthaus in Berlin), the Jovem Orquestra Portuguesa (JOP) returns to Cistermúsica to celebrate its Summer Meeting with an extraordinary programme that includes the absolute premiere of a new work by Francisco Lima da Silva (JOP 2025 composer): a vigorous composition that exploits the brilliance and virtuosity of the JOP's young musicians. In the year of the 50th anniversary of Dmitri Shostakovich's death, virtuoso cellist Pavel Gomziakov joins the JOP to give a performance of one of the most remarkable works of the 20th century concert repertoire, the 1st Cello Concerto. To close this programme under the direction of Pedro Carneiro, the young musicians will give themselves over to Brahms' 2nd Symphony, one of the most inspired works of all Romanticism, full of joy and incandescent jubilation.
