The AnimArpa duo, formed by harpists Beatriz Cortesão and Carolina Coimbra, two of Portugal's leading harpists, will be performing at Cistermúsica for the first time, bringing us a very special programme that they have entitled Eternal Feminine.
We will hear pieces composed by women born almost two hundred years apart, thus travelling through very different moments in the history of women in society and in music, with the exception of one composed by a composer who, naturally, in order not to escape the general theme, focuses on women.
The works chosen are varied and innovative, including original pieces for harp duo, others for harp and piano, duly adapted, another for acoustic and amplified harps, two that draw inspiration from female figures in Donizetti operas, and still others by composers whose surnames are much better known to the general public.
In the opinion of Duo AnimArpa, this is a programme not to be missed, not only for its implicit praise of women in general and female music in particular, but above all for the beauty of the music that will be played, which will remind us once again that through art we will never lose the ability to dream...
