In the concert In Orbit, the Alis Ubbo Ensemble will have the opportunity to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of one of the most important composers in the history of music, as the creator of great symphonic and choral works: Anton Bruckner! However, since this is a chamber ensemble, it could never tackle one of the most common pieces in Bruckner's traditional repertoire, usually for large ensembles. For this reason, it was irresistible to return to the absolutely brilliant string quintet. Bruckner, in composing this “monument”, which is so beautiful and of such high quality that it should be a regular feature of festivals and concert halls, demonstrates that music doesn't need huge ensembles to be powerful and impactful!
The concert couldn't begin in a more inspired way, as Claude Debussy's Danse Sacrée et Profane will be performed, a piece in which the harp, which will be played by the admirable harpist Carolina Coimbra, is the instrument in the spotlight. In this piece, we are faced with the special sonority of French music. Throughout the piece, we'll find a profusion of contrasting and complementary feelings, whether we're on solid ground, floating in the air or undulating on the sea. The harp leads us to dream and the quintet, as a whole, ends up making us travel to a world that is perhaps unreal and, in a way, prepares us for the other journey we are about to make, to the music of the German Anton Bruckner.
