Alcobaça Symphonic Band closes Cistermúsica Frontiers this Saturday
Concert celebrates the bridges between various countries and cultures on both sides of the Atlantic with a programme based on stylistic diversity
The last concert in the Cistermúsica Frontiers 2023 cycle will feature the Banda Sinfónica de Alcobaça (BSA), which just celebrated the 38th anniversary of its revival on 30 December.
The BSA, led by conductor Rui Carreira, takes to the stage of the Cine-Teatro de Alcobaça - João d'Oliva Monteiro on 9 December at 9.30pm with the European and Transatlantic Links programme, which aims to break down borders and celebrate the bridges between various countries and cultures on both sides of the Atlantic. Based on the stylistic diversity of these connections, we will be able to travel from opera to contemporary composition for symphonic band, from tango to Brazilian music, travelling through works by Astor Piazzolla, Giuseppe Verdi, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Ida Gotkovsky, Joly Braga Santos and Leonard Bernstein.
Tickets for this show can be purchased at www.bol.pt and at the Cine-Teatro de Alcobaça - João d'Oliva Monteiro on Thursday, from 12.30pm to 5pm, and on Saturday, from 3pm until 30 minutes after the start of the show.
Cistermúsica Fronteiras is organised by ABA - Banda de Alcobaça, Associação de Artes, a structure funded by the Portuguese Republic - Culture / Directorate-General for the Arts, in strategic partnership with the Municipality of Alcobaça and with the institutional partnership of the Directorate-General for Cultural Heritage / Alcobaça Monastery.
